Long Leaf Plantation, nestled unto 160 acres of rolling hills south of Deland was named after the long leaf pines that were found growing naturally in the area. It was founded 1978 by builder and developer Dave Robinson, a developer from Western North Carolina, who, after building homes in Country Club Estates, wanted to build upscale customized homes.

Among the distinguishing features of the homes that he built were garages large enough to accommodate recreational vehicles and boats; keeping vehicles off the streets; refraining from cutting down trees larger than 6” in diameter; and, building homes from wood, stone, or brick of earth tone colors. 

While much has changed in the world since 1978, as a result of our covenants and the cooperation of our members, and residents, our community remains very much the same as it was 40 years ago.
